The Colour Purple

Today I'm joining the February customer blog hop that's going on over at Papertrey Ink where Nichole Heady has provided this inspiration photo for us to work with ...

Interesting, no? I recently started toying/playing with journaling and memory keeping again. I've started a new book that's very flexible on format and size. Some of my layouts have photos and some of them don't. They all have lots of journaling. :) This inspiration photo immediately took me in the direction of memory keeping. I have so many associations and feelings about purple (yes, I do!) including some early childhood memories involving a mysterious and lovely lilac purple silk tulle dress that my sisters and I played dress up with. We only found out the truth about the dress after my father died. I won't bore you with the written journaling (2 pages' worth!) that I did after seeing this inspiration photo, but here is the layout that accompanies it ...

Does it remind you of the old "throw on as many embellishments, stickers and flowers as you possibly can" layouts from the past? Because that's the look I was going for. :) Everything is PTI except for some other purple inks that I included. I think I used, or at least tried, every single one I own and it helped me, somewhat, to get over my purple fears. Adding some pretty pinks and oranges helped as well. Stamp sets used were Tulip Time and Fresh Bouquet.

I also made a card ...

using the Brushed Blooms set and lots of Saffron Spice, one of my very favourites of the new colours that PTI released last year.

Group hug ...

and I'm outta here. Have fun hopping - I know I will.

  8. Oh MY! You took that inspiration and ran in a LOVELY, Bright direction! Both are stunning:)) Speaking of your purple silk tulle dress reminded me of my most favorite pair of HUGE bell-bottom pants back in grade school. They were the same colors you display in your layout. The print was Plaid. Sadly, they came to an unfortunate meeting with the chain on my Sparkly Green Banana seat bike.
    Thanks for the Beautiful post!

  9. WOW...I am so impressed with your journaling layout Diana! It's like a masterpiece and I am totally in love with it! Being a purple lover myself, I would have loved to read your journal page and heard more about the tulle dress. Having raised 3 girls, my mind of course is going to the cat fights over certain clothing items....no, guess we better not go there!! But anyway, your layout and your card are both absolutely GORGEOUS!! :0)
